When we arrived back in India after only being out of country for 2 weeks, this was the water we got out of our FILTERED water tank!! After running it for a few minutes everything looked clear, but it did encourage us to get a new and better filter!
We got back from our time in the US just in time for the Annual Kite festival in January! There were litterally hundreds of kites flying in the air for a few days straight. The string is coated with a thin layer of glass so they can "cut" down other kites in order to win! Josiah really enjoyed flying his kite!
Our new favorite friend Rahisa. She is 15 years old, and she is our helper in many ways! She helps me with the housekeeping and plays with the kids so I can cook. She is also taking an hour a day to speak with me (and sometimes the kids) in Hindi so we can improve on our language skills! (She is also starting to learn a bit of English since she spends so much time with us..how cool is that??)
Everyone's getting ready for "Holi" the Hindu Festival of colors. They use water and/or colors so the shops start selling all kinds of fun waterguns!
This is how you buy the color- it comes in powder form, and when they throw it on you, you then get wet and you become colored!
Some of our friends came and captured Brian and got him good....can you see that even his eyes are pink! The color is actually really bad for you.....but the people here dont seem to care. He was only downstairs for about 10 mintues and this is how bad he looked! Crazy!
This photo taken from our apartment looking down into the garden. Young and old alike threw water and/or color paint on one another. Some of the streets and walls are still dyed from these colors!
Josiah's buddies that live in our community.. check out the silly fun they have in the short video! It really is a MUST SEE!
